THE VERY BEST OF
Stephen Penn from Abode 2, the luxury property magazine, interviewed Jane about AUTHOR’s collections of contemporary luxury furniture, designed and made in Britain.
AUTHOR is a new name in interiors, bringing together for the first time online, the finest British designed furniture and accessories for customers to purchase. Exquisite, handmade pieces from talented designers, makers and manufacturers from around the British Isles are displayed together in a series of unique and stunning collections. This makes it easy to both see how pieces work individually in a room setting, or for those who have a more extensive shopping list, to ‘shop the look’.
AUTHOR is the brainchild of interior designer, Jane Adams who brings the vision and passion to this pioneering new concept in interiors. Based in rural Scotland, Jane has twenty years of interiors experience and expertise, working with private clients in the UK and internationally.
Her team carefully source products from emerging young talent and well-known, long-established makers. In addition, AUTHOR designs and commissions its own exclusive range of high-quality pieces. As with everything in the AUTHOR collections, these beautifully hand-crafted, bespoke pieces are items made with stylish spaces, contemporary lifestyles and discerning customers in mind.
“Our new Kingsley Collection is a sumptuous feast for the senses with indulgent, rich fabrics, contrasting textures and gloriously intense, shimmering metallic tones,” explains Jane. “The collection pairs contrasting materials and textures including brass and wood, velvet against leather and black against gold to create a look which is both beautiful and bold.”
Highlights from collection include the Henry Wallpaper, from British designers ‘Blackpop’, a design duo known for their quirky, flamboyant style incorporating historical references. In the same collection, is the eye-catching Porta Romana Motu lamp with its splayed legs and distinctive, two-headed gaze.
“One of the biggest highlights from our Winston Collection, named after Winston Churchill, has to be the Crab Stool, from Scottish furniture maker, Max McCance,” Jane says. “Max produces detailed, clever, witty designs in furniture and sculptural objects. This stool, like many of our pieces, has a distinct personality and is a guaranteed conversation starter with guests.”
Whether you are looking to furnish a chic city apartment or a capacious country pile, with AUTHOR, buyers get a quintessentially British sense of style with something handmade and unique, not mass-produced. Bespoke options are available for many products; should customers wish to vary fabrics or dimensions; the team can work with individual customer requirements.
